    Determinants of Islamic home financing selection : A study in Kuala Lumpur

    Nowadays, household in Kuala Lumpur are unable to purchase a house at the market price because they have to face many difficulties. They need to undergo lot of procedures and conditions applied to obtain loan from the financial institution to support their affordability to buy a house. This research aims to investigate the determinants which influence the customer in choosing Islamic home financing including attitude, subjective norms, pricing, religious obligation, government intervention and service provision. Samples were taken from 150 respondents who have experienced purchasing house in Kuala Lumpur. The methodology used in this research is one way ANOVA, t-Test, Pearson Coefficient and Multiple Regression. Result of this study shows there is significant relationship between attitude, religious obligation, and service provision between Islamic homes financing selection. Thus, this research provides useful information to community by increasing their level of confidence towards Islamic home financing. From this study, the researcher also suggests bank managers to improve several factors such as marketing, operational and customer service in order to attract customers purchasing their products. Finally, government intervention is vital in creating new policies, to control the house prices and provide variety of scheme in order to help the household to buy their own house

    Determinants of mobile commerce adoption among university students in Malaysia

    Mobile commerce has an increasing importance and development in offering a new platform to sell products effectively and efficiently. Despite numerous studies in the area of technology adoption, little is known about mobile commerce adoption in Malaysia and appropriate models that could explain the behaviours of young generations on the use of mobile commerce. This study attempts to propose a conceptual model for mobile commerce adoption by adapting the integrated TAM3 model and using Individual-Collectivism at Individual Level (ICAIL) as the moderating variable in the context of mobile commerce in Malaysia. In addition, this research also identifies factors that affect the perceived usefulness (i.e. subjective norm, image, output quality, result demonstrability), and perceived ease of use (selfefficacy, anxiety, perception of external control, playfulness) in the context of mobile commerce adoption among university students in Malaysia. A sample of 550 students from four universities in Malaysia was surveyed through a self-administrated questionnaire. The findings of this study found eight direct significant relationships between the tested variables, while nine hypotheses were not accepted. Firstly, in terms of perceived usefulness variable, image showed a significant relationship, whereas subjective norm, output quality and result demonstrability showed vice versa. Secondly, for perceived ease of use variable, factors of self-efficacy, perception of external control and playfulness showed significant relationships, while anxiety was found to be insignificant. Thirdly, while subjective norm had significant relationship with image, perceived usefulness indicated insignificant relationship with behavioural intention. Fourthly, perceived ease of use had significant relationships with perceived usefulness and behavioural intention. Finally, the perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, subjective norm and behavioural intention showed insignificant relationship with the moderating variable, ICAIL. As a conclusion, the results from this study are important to the advancement of knowledge to the mobile commerce companies, services provider, financial services and government

    The Determinants towards Mobile Commerce Adoption among University Students in Malaysia: A Conceptual Framework

    The rapidly emerging wireless and mobile network which offers a new platform to sell products efficiently is known as M-commerce (mobile commerce). While numerous studies have been carried out on technology adoption, not much is known about mobile commerce adoption in Malaysia, namely the governing factors and appropriate models that could explain the behaviours of young generations on the use of mobile commerce. Therefore, this paper attempts to propose a model of mobile commerce adoption in Malaysia by integrating the models of TAM3, and Individualism-Collectivism at Individual-Level (ICAIL) as moderating variables in the context of mobile commerce. This paper presents a basic understanding of the concept of mobile commerce and its business characteristics. It also describes several issues pertaining to mobile commerce from previous studies. Based on a thorough literature analysis, a model of determinants of mobile commerce adoption is presented. The findings from this study are important to the advancement of knowledge in the retail or service industries, specifically for members of the younger generation who are early and enthusiastic adopters of new technologies. The findings from this study allow a better understanding of their usage behaviour in employing M-commerce in their daily lives

    Lean Principles Improving Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Malaysian SMEs

    Lean business ideology has been one of the ongoing prevailing research areas in operations management. Accomplishment of lean can be found in manufacturing, construction, textile, service and other industrial areas. Still, the interest revealed in lean by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is limited. SMEs is one of the most indispensable substances that contribute extensively in building up Malaysia's economy. Albeit the SMEs is currently important towards Malaysia’s economy, however does the SMEs offer a superior entrepreneurial ecosystem. Therefore, the point of this research is to explore how lean principles can improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Malaysian SMEs. This research will be directed subjectively by utilizing triangulation of subjective information sources containing document analysis, interview and archival record. The validity of the findings will utilize the elements of trustworthiness to ensure the data precise and dependable. The expected findings of this study may demonstrate lean principles will improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem in SMEs Malaysia. In addition, it is urged to improve or cultivate the entrepreneurial ecosystem in accordance with the National Entrepreneurial Policy (NEP) 2030 by taking a gander at the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the digital economy and the intellectual economy to create high worth ventures, in this way staying significant and satisfying future financial needs

    Determinants of Islamic Home Financing Product Selection among Lower Income Group in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

    Recently, affordability of housing in Malaysia has becoming crucial issue especially in big cities due to economic growth and high living cost. Hence, these studies aim to investigate the factors that influence customer in Kuala Lumpur in selecting Islamic home financing product. In this study, we assume the factors that will influence customer selection for Islamic home financing are attitude, subjective norms, pricing, religious obligation, government intervention and service provision. This study used samples of 150 respondents who had an experiences purchasing house in Kuala Lumpur. This study employed Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression method to achieve the objective. Finding shows that there is a significant relationship between attitude, religious obligation, and service provision towards Islamic homes financing selection. Therefore, it is recommend that the Islamic financial provider to improve several factors is including but not limited to marketing, operation and customer service in order to attract customers to purchase Islamic home financing product.  Most importantly, all the products offered must in line with Shariah in terms of the content of the product, the contract and also the way it is delivered to the customer.     Religious discrimination among Muslim employees

    This study aims to examine religious discrimination against Muslim workers. There are three objectives in this study, namely to identify the level of discrimination against Islam, to identify differences in the level of discrimination against Islam between the sexes, and to identify differences in the level of discrimination against Islam between employers of different religions. Purposive sampling and snowball sampling methods were used to select a sample consisting of Muslim workers working as salesmen. A total of 132 questionnaires were analyzed from four different shopping complexes in Johor Bahru, Johor. The results of the study found that the level of religious discrimination is at a low level. In addition, researchers also found that male workers were more likely to experience religious discrimination than female workers. In terms of the religion of employers, non-Muslim employers are more likely to discriminate against religion than Muslim employers. In conclusion, in the context of this study, religious discrimination against Muslim workers is at a low level

    This study was conducted to examine the relationship between personal factors and self-directed learning, the relationship between goal acquisition and self-directed learning, and the role of goal acquisition as a mediator in the relationship between personal and self-directed learning. Empirical studies are still lacking on the role of goal acquisition as a mediator, especially between personal relationships with self-directed learning. The study was conducted on a sample of 378 students in public universities. Hypothesis testing was performed using SEM-AMOS analysis. We found that emotion, family support, and goal acquisition have a positive and significant relationship with self-directed learning, and that goal acquisition has a significant role as a mediator between personal factors and self-directed learning. The results of this study prove that goal acquisition serves as a mediator in the relationship between personal factors and self-directed learning. This increase in the ageing population has called for more research to be conducted concerning this group. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of the publications on ageing population research retrieved from the Scopus database between 2001 and 2021. The findings show that there has been a continuous growth in publications in research on the ageing population for 20 years since 2001. The results obtained from this research will provide the researcher with an overview of the trends in research related to the ageing population and allow them to strategize further research in different areas in the future
